Chonky Pops Campaign

Bricks. Bacon. Belief in a bear market.

Client: Larva Chads
Campaign: Chonky Pops
Format: NFT and IRL activation
Platform: OpenSea, Twitter

Objective

The aim was to reward holders, reignite community energy, and prove that creativity still matters in a down market. It was the middle of the bear market, sentiment was low, and most projects were pulling back.

Creative Execution

Larva Chads launched Chonky Pops, a bacon-flavoured cereal for the ultimate GM. Chad is famously lazy and can’t be bothered to cook, so we invented a cereal that tastes like bacon. Buy the NFT, get a real cereal box shipped anywhere in the world, with select boxes containing surprise toys. The budget was small, so instead of producing custom toys, a LEGO engineer was commissioned to build replicas of Chad. Ironically, there was a global shortage of the “peen” piece at the time. The build instructions and parts list were later open-sourced so anyone could build their own. Boxes were dispatched globally to Chad holders, turning an in-joke into a tangible collector’s item. The stunt blurred the line between satire and sincerity, turning a meme into something you could actually pour into a bowl.

Impact

The campaign achieved:

  • 10× floor price uplift

  • Sustained secondary sales activity through January 2023

  • Renewed holder engagement and community growth despite market contraction

When NFT royalties were being slashed across major platforms, Larva Chads’ success with Chonky Pops proved that authentic creativity and community-first thinking can outperform short-term market trends.
